Oxygen Forensic® Suite 2013 Roots Android 4.x Smartphones including Samsung Models, Adds More Devices and Data Sources

Oxygen Software announces a major upgrade to its flagship mobile forensic product, Oxygen Forensic® Suite 2013. Version 5.0 of a popular mobile forensic tool breaks records on the amount of extracted information by supporting more than 6300 devices including iOS 6.0.1, rooting Android 4.x devices and adding rooting support for Samsung Android-based phones. Many new data sources are available with added support for popular mobile applications such as Apple Maps, Android built-in Email client and others.

The new release of Oxygen’s flagship mobile forensic tool extends the amount of information that can be acquired from mobile devices, offering support for a great number of new devices, Android 4.x OS, and popular mobile apps.

Rooting Samsung Galaxy Android Smartphones

Samsung smartphones gained tremendous popularity, occupying the top of the niche of Android devices. There are more Android-based Samsung phones sold than all Apple iPhones combined. The ability to root Samsung smartphones opens an all-new perspective to forensic examiners, allowing to extract more data from a much greater range of devices.

Oxygen Forensic® Suite 2013 v.5.0 becomes an industry-first forensic tool to ever root Android-based Samsung devices. The new ability allows examiners rooting many popular phones such as Galaxy SII, Galaxy SIII, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, etc. At this time, Oxygen Forensic® Suite remains the only solution that can root Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Rooting Android 4.x Devices

Oxygen Forensic® Suite 2013 v.5.0 implements an all-new method for rooting Android devices, making it possible to root phones and tablets running the latest versions of Android 4.x OS such as ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich). The ability to root Android devices is required in order to obtain many types of evidence, access system areas and log files.

The majority of newly marketed Android phones carries Android 4.x. Many devices running previous versions of Android are being updated to Android 4.x. With the number of Android 4.x installations steadily growing, the newly added ability to root these devices greatly extends the range of tablets and smartphones available for comprehensive forensic acquisition, and is a welcome addition to the already impressive feature list.
